There is a $859 per month cap on your income. For ALP, you must qualify to live in a nursing home but choose to live in an assisted living facility. Finally, look into your existing long-term care insurance policy to see if the benefit is available to you.
When is the best time to tour assisted living facilities in New York?
Different celebrations characterize the holiday season. At such times, families often gather together to eat, drink, and make merry. Many families who are separated by long distances find this season as a unique opportunity to become reunited with their loved ones, particularly their aged parents. During this season, a lot of decision making takes place in most families. Many adult children who have not seen their older parents for a long time may be overwhelmed by their present health condition and may suggest they move to an assisted living home in New York to get better care. This explains why many senior living communities often experience a spike in phone calls and visits during the holidays.
There are several reasons why the holiday season is an excellent time to tour many assisted living communities in New York state. It’s no longer news that New York is one of the busiest places to live in with a beehive of activities in the United States. More so, the decision to encourage your aged parent to seek professional care is not something that can be done alone. You need the consent of your siblings and your parents. Most times, it’s difficult to discuss such issues with all members of the family via a phone call. Hence, a face to face meeting is preferred. But most of your siblings might be drowned in their day to day affairs that there is hardly time for a meeting. Whether you or your aged parent lives in New York, the holiday season gives everyone a little break from the hustle and bustle lifestyle of the city. What a perfect time to discuss issues related to elderly care for your loved one! Here are more reasons to tour a New York assisted living facility during the holidays:
The assisted living facility is lively and fun
Assisted living communities in New York have fun-filled activities in their calendar during the holidays. There are various choir concerts, troops, and gatherings that characterize the season. It’s also a time where many families visit their loved ones who reside in the community. This is a golden opportunity to get accurate reviews from direct sources. You can ask the guests how they feel about the facility and whether their aged loved one is getting the desired care.
The search is easier
One of the reasons to tour a facility during the holidays is that more family members will be present. The search process can be divided among siblings to make it easier and comfortable. You will also be able to interact with other families and residents to understand if your relatives will feel comfortable aging in place at the New York assisted living facility you are considering. You will also be able to understand the compassion that the caregivers have for the residents and the level of care provided during the holiday season. You can then suggest the best assisted living facility in New York for your loved one to consider moving to.
